May 25, 2026 - Welcome everyone! You have probably noticed the Pines Ranch has some new changes. #1 The gate no longer accepts the keys. There is a code now and it is registered to our cabin. We will give you access if you have a reservation. Call Scott Barnum at 801-636-8778. The ranch is able to more closely monitor comings and goings. If you do need to access the gate and you do not have a reservation, please call Scott and he can open it remotely for you. He will need your name and your family rep. We had an unauthorized entry during the winter that used the cabin and caused damage to the water heater. Please do not use the cabin without notifying Scott Barnum. When you de-winterize it, it can cause problems that are costly to fix. We have had people bring chairs and leave them at the cabin. Please let us know. Not everyone has the same taste or level of comfort with older things. If you think it would add to the comfort, please reach out to Scott or Julie. The area to the East of the cabin (front) is usually reserved for tents. We would appreciate NO WOOD CHOPPING there. The fire danger is expected to be high the entire season. Please only build fires in the fire pit. Dutch oven cooking should be done on propane stoves or with charcoal in the firepit. If you use the fireplace, make sure you allow time for the ashes to cool and to clean and remove them. We are going to need to replace the roof either at the end of the season or next year. Donations are welcome. We may need to look at adjusting the cost of the cabin if we cannot get enough donations. We have 2 scheduled work days for the Ranch. Those days are June 13th and June 20th. Please make sure you sign in at the firehouse. Our Cabin has to fulfill 24 hours of service. Come prepared to work and if you are good at barbed wire fencing, we would love your help. July 9, 2020 - Recently we had a request from those who don't visit the cabin often as to what is available there. The cabin has 3 Queen beds on the ground floor with one twin. The upstairs has 5 full size mattresses and three twins. There are two cribs one on each floor. There are two bathrooms. The downstairs bath has a tub/shower and the upstairs is a shower. We have one crock pot, one griddle and one fry pan. A toaster, blender, and mixer. We have some dishes and silverware and knives and spatulas. We do have dishtowels but ask you to wash what you use. You are responsible for bringing your own bedding and towels and cleaning supplies, including toilet paper and disposables. . Please do not leave any bedding or personal items behind. We do have a barbecue in the shed, I don't know how old it is. There is a fireplace for heat but you may need to cut some wood and make sure you clean out the fireplace before you leave. See the cleaning list in the kitchen for discharge. There is a firepit in the rear of the cabin. Please do not start fires anywhere else, as per ranch directives. Please do not remove the plastic coverings on the beds and wipe them down before you leave. There are mice that like to come and go in the cabin. Please replace the traps. If there are no traps when you are there, please let us know. Do not remove the electronic rodent deterrents. Thanks for keeping it nice for the next person. .

May 3, 2020 - What a strange beginning to the Cabin Season! Covid-19 has changed our lives, in some ways for the worse and some for the better. I hope you have all had more time to focus on your families and the foundational elements of your lives. The cabin is a private property so you should all be able to access it. I believe by the middle of May things will be loosening up, but try to keep the crowds down as much as possible. We have been asked for the time being to limit the number in a crowd to 10. I am not sure if this will continue throughout the summer. I hope not. We will have some high touch cleaning expectations to help combat the virus, but please bring supplies with you. I will try to keep some on hand.
